Finding my artistic voice
My journey into watercolor painting began in the early 90s, initially as a hobby. Like many artists, I struggled to settle on a definitive style or theme. However, after studying L.S. Lowry's distinctive approach, I started to incorporate elements of his style into my own work. This exploration helped me to develop a unique artistic voice that resonates with the character of Manchester and beyond.

From inspiration to canvas
My creative process is quite simple: if I see an image that inspires me, I'll paint it. This direct approach allows for spontaneity and captures the raw emotion of the moment. Whether it's a bustling Manchester street, a serene seascape, or a tranquil landscape, each painting is a direct response to the world around me.

Art that sparks reflection
Ultimately, I want my paintings to be slightly different—thought-provoking pieces that encourage viewers to stop and truly look. My aim is for my art to evoke a sense of curiosity and invite contemplation, offering a fresh perspective on familiar scenes and subjects. Each artwork is crafted to leave a lasting impression and stimulate personal reflection.
